Toronto to Vancouver flights

Toronto–Vancouver is the coast-to-coast spine of Canadian aviation. Multiple daily nonstops from Pearson keep business travellers, visiting-friends traffic and leisure trip-makers on the same runway. Block time usually sits near five hours westbound (longer into headwinds) and a bit shorter eastbound — long enough to need a real seat plan, short enough that one-stop “bargains” via prairie hubs often waste a day.

Shop and budget in CAD. Fares firm around Christmas, March Break, summer long weekends and major Vancouver events. Midweek banks (Tue–Thu) frequently undercut Friday westbounds and Sunday eastbounds.

Depart Toronto Pearson (YYZ) — Terminal 1 for most Air Canada metal, Terminal 3 for many WestJet and partner flights. UP Express remains the cleanest downtown link if you are not driving.

Arrive Vancouver International (YVR) on Sea Island. Canada Line connects into downtown; taxis and rideshares cover Kitsilano, Yaletown and the North Shore. If your itinerary continues to Victoria or the Island, build buffer — YVR is efficient but not immune to Pacific fog banks.

Unlike multi-airport US shuttles, this route is a true city-pair: YYZ and YVR. Fare shopping is simpler, but you cannot casually side-door into Abbotsford without checking whether door-to-door time still wins.

Shoulder months — late January (post-holiday), late April–May, and mid-September–October — often show the calmest CAD pricing outside holiday spikes. Summer Fridays fill with leisure travellers heading to the coast; December weekends spike around holidays.

Ontario March Break can push both Florida and westbound domestic prices — if your dates are fixed, start watching 8–12 weeks out.

Operationally, morning westbounds reduce cascade risk. Evening arrivals into YVR are popular but can meet Pacific weather holds — pack flexibility if you have a same-night ferry or mountain transfer.

Air Canada and WestJet dominate nonstop YYZ–YVR capacity across the year. Cabin products and bag rules differ — a “cheap” basic fare can lose to a standard ticket once you add a checked bag and seat selection for a five-hour sector.

Premium economy and business cabins appear on many banks; they are worth comparing in CAD against points redemptions if you travel this route often.

One-stop options via Calgary or Edmonton sometimes undercut nonstops on off-peak Tuesdays — only take them if the layover is short and the total journey still fits your day.

Search ±3 days. A Tuesday outbound and Wednesday return often beats the classic Friday–Sunday leisure pattern.
